Everyone’s job journey is different. Some people work at a desk, some work outside, some work with their hands, and some work with disabilities.
Working with a disability doesn’t mean you can’t do the job—it just means you might do it in a different way. And that’s okay!
At Work Now Hawaii, we believe people with disabilities can succeed, grow, and shine at work.
Working with a Disability Means…
Using Your Strengths
People with disabilities have many great skills! You might be:
- A good problem-solver
- A careful listener
- Great at staying focused
- Very kind and helpful to others
Every job needs people with these strengths.
You May Do Things Differently
You might use:
- A job coach for extra help
- A screen reader or other tech
- Extra time to learn something new
- A different way to move or work
These supports help you do your best. They don’t make you less—they make you ready.
You Can Still Be Independent
Having a disability doesn’t mean someone else has to do everything for you. It just means you might need:
- A plan
- A tool
- Some practice
- Or help from a support team
And once you have those things, you can do great work on your own.
Work Can Feel Good
Working with a disability might be hard sometimes. But it can also feel:
- Exciting
- Powerful
- Fun
- Meaningful
It feels good to earn money, be part of a team, and reach your goals.
You Are Not Alone
Many people work with disabilities. Some are blind or deaf. Some use wheelchairs or walkers. Some have learning or mental health disabilities. But they all bring value to their workplaces.
You’re not the only one—and you don’t have to do it alone.
