Ready to Reach Your Career Goals? We’ve Got Your Back!

Do you have a disability that makes it hard to work? You don’t have to do it alone. Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) could be the support you need to find—and keep—a job you love. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, VR services are available across every state, territory, and Indian Nations. And it’s here to make a difference for people with all types of disabilities. Some states even offer specialized programs for individuals who are legally blind.

Who Can Apply?

Wondering if you qualify for VR? Here’s the simple scoop:

  • You need to have a physical or mental disability that makes working a challenge.
  • You must benefit from VR services to prepare for work, land a job, or continue working successfully.

If you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), you’re likely eligible unless your disability is too severe to benefit.

What Kind of Help Can You Get?

VR provides personalized support designed just for you. Think of it as your all-in-one career toolkit! Here are some of the services VR can offer:

  • An assessment of your disability
  • A customized job plan that fits your goals
  • Expert counseling and career guidance
  • Training and education to sharpen your skills
  • Help with finding a job that matches your interests
  • Ongoing support to make sure you thrive at work

You can get referred to VR through schools, hospitals, welfare agencies, and more. Or, if you’re ready to take action, you can apply directly.

How to Get Started

Ready to take the next step? Here’s how to apply:

  1. Reach out to your local VR office to learn about the process.
  2. Fill out and submit your application.
  3. The VR office will decide your eligibility within 60 days.
