Finding joy in your job—your way.
Everyone wants to feel good about the work they do. But feeling fulfilled at work doesn’t look the same for everyone. Some people feel good when they help others. Some feel proud when they learn something new. Some get satisfaction from doing their best every single day. Others feel happy just being part of a team.
At Work Now Hawaii, we believe there are many paths to feeling fulfilled at work—and you get to find the one that works for you.
Paths include:
- Helping children and teens to become their best selves.
- Taking care of animals
- Serving people in hospitality
- Helping people become healthy
We asked some of our team members to share what makes their work meaningful. Here’s what they said!
🌟 Helping Others Feels Good
Bob Sage, President of Work Now Hawaii, loves helping others find ways to support people with disabilities. “It makes me happy to see how many people want to help,” Bob said. “There are almost 40,000 people with disabilities in Hawaii who want to work. I enjoy being part of the team helping them.”
Riley, Director of Employment Services, agrees. “Seeing our clients grow and get promoted is amazing,” he said. “Some people start by saying, ‘I don’t think I can work.’ Then they learn, grow, and become stars on their team!”
Stefani, who works as our Administrative Contract Coordinator, says it’s her passion to help others. “I’ve worked in education for many years, but now I get to see people grow into amazing adults. Some of them are the smartest people I know!”
😊 Work Can Touch Your Heart
When your work helps others, it feels good inside.
Bob said, “I know my work matters when I see people smile. That’s how I know we’re making a difference.”
Stefani added, “Sometimes I get to be the voice for people who can’t speak up. That’s when I know my work matters—when I’m helping others and following my heart.”
🧠 Learning Something New Can Be Fun
Riley said he enjoys learning new things—especially when they’re a challenge. “I’ve been learning about writing grants,” he shared. “It’s totally different from everything else I do. It helps me grow and use new skills.”
Bob is proud of building programs that will last a long time. “Even after I’m gone, Work Now Hawaii will keep helping people. That makes me feel proud.”
💬 Support Makes a Difference
Everyone needs support to do their best.
For Bob, it’s his amazing Directors. “They do great work every day,” he said. “That gives me time to build relationships and keep our mission moving.”
Riley says he does best with “direction, encouragement, and people noticing when we succeed.”
Stefani feels supported when she works with teammates who are honest and care about the mission. “Open communication is everything,” she said.
💡 Advice for Finding Fulfillment at Work
Feeling fulfilled at work is about more than just money. It’s about doing something that feels good to you.
