Getting around the city just got a whole lot simpler for people with disabilities. TheHandi-Van is here to make travel accessible and worry-free, operating daily alongside TheBus and serving locations up to ¾ of a mile from bus routes. If you can’t hop on TheBus, TheHandi-Van has your back!
What’s the Ride Fare?
Each ride is a wallet-friendly $2.25. Pay with cash or snag some ride tickets at the Transit Pass Office at the Kalihi Transit Center, 611 Middle Street, Honolulu, HI 96819.

TheHandi-Van team can make reasonable adjustments to better meet your needs. If a request isn’t approved, you have the right to appeal!
Your Rider’s Guide
Approved for TheHandi-Van service? You’ll want to hang onto your Rider’s Guide. Misplaced it? No worries—view it online or request a new copy by calling (808) 768-8300 or emailing handivan@honolulu.gov.
Am I Eligible?
You’ll receive a letter letting you know if you qualify for TheHandi-Van service. If you do, it’ll also include all the details you need to get started.
How to Apply
Wondering if you qualify for door-to-door service? Give TheHandi-Van Eligibility Center a call at (808) 538-0033 to start your application. You’ll need to complete an in-person interview to see if regular bus travel is an option for you.

Reserving Your Ride
Planning a trip? Make a reservation 1 to 3 days in advance by calling (808) 456-5555. TheHandi-Van will pick you up at the nearest safe spot and get you to your destination. If you’re planning to travel to more rural areas or places out of the way, please be aware that you may need to factor in some extra wait time for TheHandi-Van. In these cases, it can sometimes take a few hours for your ride to arrive. Planning ahead can help ensure a smoother experience.
